Ayan Mukerji has postponed his superhero film starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt so that his mentor could begin his directorial with RK.
Ayan Mukerji has been working on a superhero flick since the release of his last directorial, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in 2013. He was set to start the Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer in mid 2015 and his good pal Ranbir had allotted a chunk of dates to him too.
However, Ayan’s mentor Karan Johar announced his own directorial – Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – with Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai and Ranbir Kapoor. And the project has had a domino effect on Ayan’s film. It is learnt that Ayan has pushed his own film by around six months so that Karan can start his.
A source close to the development said, “Karan wanted to start his film first but Ayan had Ranbir’s dates from June.” Karan who produced both of Ayan’s films, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Wake Up Sid, then asked his protege to spare him those dates.
“Ayan agreed as he couldn’t really say no to Karan,” the source added. “Ayan now plans to use the gap in time to go back to his script and polish it further as it is a really ambitious project.”
