In mid-December, the IPL 2020 auction will take place in Kolkata and franchises will want to clean up their squads to clear up their purses to buy the right players at the auction.
A few trade-offs could also be in the offing in the build-up to the bidding event with the cut-off date for transfers set at 14 November.
Recently, Former Australia cricket player Andrew McDonald had been appointed as the head coach of Indian Premier League team Rajasthan Royals for the next three years.
In 2009 and 2011, McDonald had previously been connected to Delhi Daredevils as a player in the IPL. He was also signed up by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2012 and 2013. He has been into the Cricketics for several years
Following that, he also worked as the bowling coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2018. McDonald will take over from Paddy Upton, who was the previous head coach of Rajasthan Royals. Recently, he was also appointed as the assistant coach of Justin Langer by Cricket Australia.
IPL is a contest of all things at the highest level – Andrew McDonald
Speaking of the new role for Rajasthan Royals, Andrew McDonald quoted that IPL has always been an entertaining and highly-competitive tournament off all the tournaments in the world. Further, quoted that he would like to deliver his best to see Rajasthan Royals regaining the lost glory in the tournament. And also, he is looking forward to work with the best players in the world.
”T20 jobs, particularly in the IPL, do not always arise. Then, when the Royals’ work came up, I was glad to throw my hat into the ring. If you ask coaches around the world, at some point they want Coach in the IPL. It is the best competition in the world. You can work with the best players and in front of one of the best cricket fans. It is a contest of all things at the highest level,” Andrew McDonald said.
I will seek to add value to the franchise:
Further, he went to add quoting that the team has got blistering players in the lineup, who can make things fall in place for the team. He mentioned names of the star players in the team and hoped that he would gell well together to bring the best out of them for the tournament.
”I think it’s a pretty exciting list that is currently in place with Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler, Ben stokes Steve Smith Shreyas Gopal, Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson among others. These are the main players to work for. I will seek to add value to that list and try to make them play the cricket style we want to play, he said.
Although just 38 years old, McDonald has a strong CV as a coach. He led Victoria to the one-day and the Sheffield Shield titles, in addition to guiding Melbourne Renegades to their maiden Big Bash League title. McDonald was named as the head coach of The Hundred team Birmingham Phoenix in June earlier this year.
Although on the other hand, what came as a shocking revelation for Bangladesh cricket and the entire cricketing fraternity was Shakib Al Hasan being handed over a ban of two years by the ICC for failing to report approaches by bookies on multiple occasions.
One of the strongest all-rounders in the industry, as he was found guilty on three charges under the ICC Anti Corruption Code, Shakib acknowledged his penalties.
Shakib, who completes his suspension for one year, is required to comply with the apex body’s anti-corruption policy by completing their educational program and raising awareness of the need to liberate the game from corruption.
As a result, next year’s 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will also miss the experienced campaigner.
This will be a huge loss for Sunrisers Hyderabad, as it leaves the franchise with a huge void to fill in place of a quality overseas all-rounder by looking at their IPL Stats.
Though Shakib had very little role to play for SRH in the last season, he has been a consistent member of the side and a senior pro for Hyderabad in the past few years.
The upcoming IPL auction now becomes even more important for SRH as they will aim to get their act right in terms of the balance of their squad. The franchise will have certain all-rounders on their radar, who they can rely upon in IPL 2020.
