SAN JOSE: WomenNow presented “Charity Ghazal Night”, of Thanks and Giving for the people who have suffered from natural disasters in 2012. The two hour musical evening was presented by Manesh Judge on December 16 at San Jose Garden airport hotel. The crowd was mesmerized by the performance of Ghazal maestro Praveen Chaddha. He is one of the most sought after singers in the Indian music scene in North America.
He performed for about 50 minutes and sang popular ghazals. Sufi singer, Sunita Sharma sang for about 30 minutes and enthralled the crowd with her power packed numbers. The last set of performance was by Manesh Judge, a well known musician of Bay area. The accompanying artists for the evening were Mike Anand on guitar, Akshay Naresh on flute and Happy Singh and Manesh Judge on tabla.
The proceedings of the show were donated to the Red Cross for people who have suffered from nature disasters in 2012. The event was attended by over 300 people. Among them were top businessmen, physicians, social workers of the Bay area, Dr Romesh Japra, Ms. Teresa Cox and Mr.Ash Kalra, to name a few.
Each year, WomenNow continues to advance its mission of serving the community. Through its programs, it claims to have seen many lives change for the better. “Our goal is to continue to make a difference and with the help of donations from supporters such as you we will continue to see improvements,” said Ena Sarkar, founder of WomenNow TV. She hoped to continue the great work in future, thereby give back to the community. Ena said she was inspired by the outcome of the event and planned to do many such events in the coming year to support the good cause. She thanked the donors who made the event a grand success.
