In a unique promotional event, the team of Wave Cinemas’ up coming film Zubaan, led by filmmaker and CEO Wave Cinemas Rahul Mittra, director Mozez Singh, actor Vicky Kaushal, actress and former Miss India Sarah Jane Dias and producer Shaan Vyas celebrated Valentine’ Day along with industry workers across all 23 film crafts organized by the Western India India Film Producers Association along with Lions Club of Millennium.
Hundreds of industry workers got a free eye checkup done with few even getting their cataract operations done for free. Mr Sangram Shirke and Dharmendra Mehra from Western Film Producers Association were also present, apart from hundreds of film industry workers, prominent doctors and media professionals.
Zubaan releases on March 4 and is a Wave Cinemas Ponty Chadha release in association with Raju Chadha. It is produced by Guneet Monga and Shaan Vyas of Sikhya Entertainment.
The Zubaan got together to launch the film’s trailer and showcase two songs from it – an energetic dance number and a soulful Punjabi rock anthem. The film traces the journey of Dilsher (Vicky Kaushal) who moves from Punjab to Delhi and gets attracted to a mysterious singer, played by Sarah-Jane Dias, through the course.
Speaking on the occasion, debutant director Mozez Singh recalled the nine years he spent making this coming-of-age drama and how it changed him as a person. Interestingly, he was the one who discovered Vicky (of Masaan fame) and cast him as the lead in this film.
Zubaan won accolades when it opened the Busan International Film Festival last year. Apart from being the first mainstream Bollywood film to open the festival, it also won Mozez the Rising Debut Director Award. The musical also premiered at the Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) in California and was loved by Hollywood heavy weights, Will Smith and Johnny Depp. No wonder the team is excited about the film’s release.
