Two amazing young men from Indian families in Silicon Valley, who just completed a highly prestigious paid summer internship sponsored by the Bank of America.
As Bank of America Student Leaders, Aahaan Bandopadhyay and Zayne Abraham worked for eight weeks this summer for local not-for-profits, helping to mitigate the problems of homelessness. They subsequently spent a week in Washington, DC with the 300 other 2023 Student Leaders, studying, conferencing and learning and meeting with congressional representatives.
Here are short bios on Zayne and Aahaan. Their families came to the U.S. from Kerala and Kolkota, respectively.
Zayne Abraham of Foster City is a rising senior at Aragon High School, recognized as an outstanding student with a strong interest in community service, including interning for a local congressional campaign and tutoring elementary and high school students. His experience serving as secretary to the San Mateo Youth Commission and helping to fundraise for his Speech and Debate Club will serve him well in his summer Student Leader assignment working with the Funding Development office of HIP Housing.
Aahaan Bandopadhyay of Saratoga is a rising senior at Lynbrook High School, a leader in debate and Mock Trial, and a member of the French Honor Society. With an outstanding GPA, he has taken AP classes and placed highly in national and state competitions in debate, business, French and Mock Trial. He is active in school clubs, and founded Elders Abroad inspired by his relationship with his uncle, working in care homes, teaching French to help elderly residents access their lost memories. As a Student Leader, he will be working at the LifeMoves summer camp for children of housing-challenged families.
