San Ramon, CA: Spandana Foundation organized 2nd annual spelling bee competition at Windmere Ranch middle school, San Ramon on Sunday, February 10. More than 300 students from 1st to 8thgrade competed in three categories of Juniors, Intermediate and Seniors. Students from all parts of Bay Area participated in this event representing 82 schools from 31 cities in Bay area.
San Ramon Mayor Bill Clarkson graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Addressing the audience Mr. Clarkson said that he was very pleased to see such high level of performance with so many students fiercely competing for honors. He said that City of San Ramon will also recognize all the category level winners of this competition.
Giri Lankepalle, Director and Founding member mentioned to parents that “Every participant fee from this event is spent to support one year of high-school education back in India”. He requested all parents to remind their kids that their participation is not only for winning Spelling Bee but also to support an underprivileged student in India.
Chandrasekhar Azad and Hari Moola, Foundation board of directors and event coordinators thanked all the volunteers and sponsors. Lucky Sandhu, Founder and President of Reliance Financial said, “It is great to see the enthusiasm, passion and intelligence in these young children.”

In the Junior Catagory – Anisha Kumar(1st), Lavanya Sundar (2nd) and Anwesh Sahu (3rd), In the Intermediate Category – Pragadeeswar Daksinamurthi (1st), Anish Kashyap (2nd), Aditya Ramakrishnan (3rd) and In the Senior Category – Surya Auroprem(1st), Nikhilesh Kumar (2nd), Sunidhi Sridhar (3rd).
