CHICAGO: Bhartiya Senior Citizens of Chicago celebrated picnic at Brama Parmanand Ashram in Elgin, a northwest suburb of Chicago, recently.
Over 350 BSCC members, friends and well wishers participated in the picnic that ran from 9 am to 6 p.m. All BSCC committee members arrived 8 am to start preparing for the picnic. The food team was kept ready to meet the requirements. There were Faluda, Jalebi, Kadi (Indian Chatni), onion, tea and Gotta until noon.
The temperature was 99 F and it was necessary to have enough water and cold drinks to face the heat for over seven hours.
Throughout the day, Indian games such as cherry eating contest, find money from rice bowls, Limbu Chamcha, musical chairs and water balloons were played. Prizes were given to the winning members.
Indian Khichadi, Vegetable Shaak, Indian popular sweet Mohan Thaal, Puri, Athanu and Chhach were enjoyed by one and all. The picnic was organized successfully and enjoyed by the BSCC members due to lots of dedication and hard work by Chairman Batukbhai Shukla, Manshukhbhai Patel, President Haribhai Patel, Secretary Parsottam Pandya, Food committee’s Ramshing Parmar, Rameshbhai Baxi, Game committee’s Dr Pratimaben & Jashu Patel.
Invited guests Mafatbhai Patel of Patel Brothers, Dhirubhai Shuhagia businessman, Dr Hemaliben Shah from Soul Care Services, Snehali Upadhyay, OD of The Eye Place, John Lawson (Running for State Representative) spent time talking to seniors and enjoyed Indian food at the event.
BSCC President Haribhai Patel gave special thanks to Ma Divya (Madi), Shivabhai Patel of BSCC and also thanked all committee members who worked hard to make this picnic a success.
