Celebrating mothers and the motherland: Special event marks Independence Day with tribute to women

LOS ANGELES:  A heartwarming celebration titled “Every Day is Mother’s Day: Appreciating Mothers on the Occasion of the Independence Day of Our Motherland” was held on the Saturday evening at 4810 Sunset Blvd, drawing community members together to honor the contributions of mothers and women leaders.

The event, blending national pride with maternal appreciation, was moderated by Attorney Amy Ghosh and Swami Shuvananda Puri Maharaj. The evening featured a diverse program of tributes, talks, and cultural performances, all aimed at recognizing the tireless efforts of mothers in shaping society.

Dr. Toni Dasgupta, PhD, MBA, and CEO/Founder of the Veda Fund, served as Chief Guest. During the event, several outstanding women were honored for their work in community service, law, advocacy, and the arts. Among the awardees were:

  • Payel Kohli, Founder and Executive Director of Saahas for Cause, Artesia
  • Vivian Szwarc, noted immigration attorney
  • Saherish Khan, a multi-talented pilot, lawyer, and actress from Pakistan

The evening also featured a fashion show curated by Fashion Weaves by Sumana Majumder, adding a festive flair to the celebration.

Attendees enjoyed a joyful and vibrant atmosphere filled with music, inspirational speeches, and cultural presentations. Organizers emphasized that while Mother’s Day is traditionally celebrated once a year, the role of mothers deserves daily recognition and appreciation.

The event successfully merged themes of independence, empowerment, and maternal love — leaving guests inspired and uplifted.
