Indian Army Veterans raise India’s flag at Chapman University’s Republic Day

On Friday January 23, 2026 Chapman University hosted a Celebration of India’s 77th Republic Day with Chief Guest, The Consulate General of India Los Angeles Dr. K. J. Srinivasa.   Chapman University’s Office of the President Nidhi P. Vogt welcomed business and community leaders to the campus. Vice Chancellor for Student Life Jerry Price, Dean Tom Turk of the Chapman University Argyros College of Business & Economics, Executive Director Araceli Martinez, and other campus leaders welcomed attendees.  The Orange High School Color Guard led by MSgt. Carlos Mata and Colonel Mark Tull started the program with pageantry.

Chapman UniversityAcademic Director of the MSc. in Business Analytics Program The Shah Family Endowed Chair in Innovativeness Dr. Pradip K. Shukla and Professor Yatri Shukla welcomed the attendees to the celebration. Dr. Sinha Charu sang the original version of a 150 year old patriotic Indian song, Vande Matarum. The flag of India was raised by Dr. Srinivasa and, Indian Army Veterans Major Gurjeet Singh and Captain Aparna Hande.  Event co-sponsors were GOPIO-LA, SMAP, Saahas for Cause, SoCal Channel as Media Partner, and Chups Mom2Mom founded by Sami Susaimanickam that prepared special Meal Boxes for guests.
