BUENA PARK, CA: The Jain Center of Southern California, Buena Park, will be celebrating its 25th anniversary celebrations from June 27 to June 30. This is a remarkable milestone for Jain community in the US, as it is the very first 25th anniversary celebration of any Jain temple built in North America.
The four day festivities include a variety of programs like 45 Aagam (Jain scriptures) Poojan, Siddhachakra Poojan, procession with floats, Bhakti (devotional prayers), cultural programs, Garba (Indian folk dances), as well as dignitary lectures and recognition for the entire community. The dignitaries expected to attend include Gurudev Chitrabhanuji, Consul General of India N. Parthasarathi, Congressman Ed Royce, Sadhviji Chandanaji, Sadhviji Sanghmitraji, Shree Dhirajbhai Pandit, and mayors of various surrounding cities. This celebration will be attended by approximately 2,500 people.
JCSC was started in September 1979 with a few dozen families, and today they have a membership of over 1200 families. JCSC built and inaugurated the first custom-designed Jain Temple in the United States in July 1988, and the center continued to grow and planned its expansion in three phases over time.
