CHICAGO: With great enthusiasm and patriotism, the new Board of the Indian Community of Niles Township along with the United Senior Parivar took part in Skokie’s 4th of July Parade this year.
Thousands of people witnessed the parade and watched while more than 40 members of ICNT marched together dressed in red, white and blue T-shirts, and dancing and jumping to the music of Indian DJ Dhamaka. While spectators enjoyed the haunting music, the Indian community well represented with children as young as 5 and octogenarians passed through the streets of downtown Skokie, stopping on to share greetings of Happy Fourth of July with everyone.
Rohit Joshi, president of ICNT wished a happy Independence Day to the Mayor of Skokie. Arvind Patel, Jt. Treasurer, and Vijai Gupta, Vice President were joined by Ramanbhai Patel, President of United Senior Pariwar and ICNT members – all dancing with the music and adding to the holiday atmosphere.
After the parade, the ICNT served a delicious and healthy lunch to all the participants.
ICNT enthusiastically explores Indian culture and music to share the Indian heritage with the different ethnic groups in Niles Township area. The board plans to celebrate the 66th Republic Day of India in the last week of January 2014.
