CHICAGO: Federation of Indian Associations-Chicago [FIA] in partnership with Chicago’s renowned showbiz-team – Sahil & LA Tan – are teaming to host the India Independence Day Grand Mela – A festival of music, dance and singing, according to Keerthi Ravoori FIA President
Ravoori said it would be a fitting grand finale to a series of exciting festive events hosted in celebration of India’s Independence Day on Saturday, August 16 starting at 2:30 pm in the Republic Bank outdoor premises located at 2720 W. Devon Ave in Chicago immediately after the conclusion of the Parade.
Chicago Mayor along with other elected State and Federal officials besides local dignitaries are invited to India Day celebrations and expectations are that they would grace the occasion, said Ravoori
This Grand Mela encompasses an eclectic array of music, dance, and singing and food samplers to continue the Indian Independence Day festive exuberance. The Mela will showcase, promote and celebrate the host of local artists bringing their incredible talent for people of all ages to enjoy and experience the spirit of India and Indianness.
This Mela being hosted under the chairmanship of Ajeet Singh, FIA’s Joint Treasurer, aims to unleash a wealth of local community talent showcasing the best of traditional and contemporary Bollywood music, dance performances, singing. It will feature emerging artists in genres that span between the traditional to contemporary. The admission to Mela is free.
