CHICAGO: Universal Metro Asian Services (UMAS), a branch of Metropolitan Asian Family Services (MAFS), had a grand opening of their new facility in Schaumburg at Patel Brother’s Plaza on Friday June 1, 2018.
This location will concentrate mainly in serving seniors with Congregate Meals, Home care and Adult Day Care under the name of Universal Metro Asian Services and Home Health Care through Metro Home Health Care. MAFS also provides help with public benefits, immigration and citizenship services, ESL classes, Health Promotion and Home Health Services to low-income seniors.
Its staff assist seniors to apply for various Federal and State benefit programs based on their income and make appropriate referrals to Suburban CCU, DHS, Social Security Offices and immigration offices. The opening ceremony commenced with Nimish Jani, chanting the ancient mantra of Vedas before Ribbon Cutting ceremony. Present were Eva Contractor, Mrs Santosh Kumar, Executive Director, along with Board President, Dr Firdaus Jafri, Mrs Sumitra Pate, Vice President, Dr Rakesh Asthana, Secretary, Sagar Kumar, Mike Normoyle, staff of Ms Michelle Mussman, Illinois House Representative of 56th District, Ms Paula Bartolozzi, from Age Options, Area Agency on Ageing and, Mafatbhai Patel. The chief guests did the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The guests enjoyed a series of famed Hindi songs sung by Nithin and Mrs Uma Nath. Songs were followed by dance. There was an abundant spread of scrumptious and healthy lunch, prepared in house. The seniors enjoyed a sit-down lunch along with the chief guests, and the board of directors. The followed speeches by Mrs Kumar, Ms Paula Bartolozzi’s, Mike Normoyle, Nimish Jani and Mafatbhai Patel.
Ms Bartolozzi emphasized her long relationship with MAFS and praised MAFS/UMAS for their work ethics and contribution to the community. She made it clear that the community needs more organizations like MAFS to positively help community seniors lead an independent life. Ms Michelle’s office staff Mike Normoyle explained how their office can assist residents of 56th district in various matters. Mafatbhai Patel congratulated Mrs Kumar for opening this location for community services and praised her dedicated work for so many years. Ms Michelle Mussman commended Ms Kumar’s leadership for the organization
