CHICAGO: Indian American Business Council (IABC) convened its Spring Summit 2019 March 29 in collaboration with the Indian Consulate in Chicago at the Consulate premises under the theme “Indo-US Business in Digital Age” to highlight India’s new initiatives, business opportunities in Indian states with emphasis on the upcoming business initiatives.
The Spring Summit 2019 attracted participation of several corporates, businesses, entrepreneurs, community and academic leaders who examined and deliberated on ways to augment bilateral opportunities.
The IABC meet also bade farewell to outgoing Consul General of India in Chicago Neeta Bhushan eulogizing her leadership quality for advancing and providing platforms to facilitate business and trade exchanges between India and the US. She was also praised for her ardent support for Prime Minister Naendra Modi’s Make in India initiative.
IABC President Harish Kolasani, in his remarks, welcomed the distinguished gathering. IABC Director Keerthi Kumar Ravoori and Vasavi Chakka presided over the event as moderators. Vijay Prabhakar, Chairman of Multi Ethnic American Task Force (MEATF) offered felicitation and best wishes to Bhushan. The FIA’s Executive Vice President Ajeet Singh presented a special memento to Bhushan honoring her services for the last three years..
There were several other eminent corporate leaders including Air India’s Midwest Chief Malini Vaidyanathan, State Bank of India’s Amit Jhingra, Executive Director of Illinois Chamber of Commerce Laura Ortega and Prakasam Tata.
Bhushan congratulated the IABC for hosting a meaningful Spring Summit and said that she will continue to work with the diaspora community in fostering vibrant relations with India
The Spring Summit encompassed plenary sessions. A plenary “Infrastructure, Start-Ups and Staffing” was led by Ortega with Rajiv Sharma and Kishor Mehta also addressing the subject.
A second session on “Healthcare, Information Technology and Sports” topic was led by De Terrence Chiramel, who was joined by James Borishade, and Raghu Bharathur.
A third session on “Online Business, Marketing and Legal Services” was led by Vishal Chabbria, Attorney at Law. Thomas Bibby Varghese, CEO of EBiz Universe, and Krishna Chittoori also joined Chabbria.
Another session on “Arts, Culture, Music and Social Entrepreneurship” was led by S.V.Rama Rao who was joined by Pradeep Kandimala, CEO of Sahave and Jay Williams, Vice President of 1 PM. Vijay Prabhakar, Chairman (Global Strategic Alliance), addressed the concluding session of the event.
