Anna Hazare visited Bay area recently to raise community awareness among Indian community for his cause of social reforms in India. During his visit, he awarded Attorney Anu Peshawaria for her outstanding service to the Indian community in USA.
Anu is recipient of many other prestigious awards for her tireless dedication to the human and legal rights of immigrants. Some of these include Excellence for her service & dedication for spreading social awareness and upholding immigrant rights, Hind Rattan award, Pravasi Samman Award and Alien of Extraordinary Ability status by the Immigration and Naturalization Service of the United States.
Anu has over 25 years of experience in US and Indian laws. She is a practicing US attorney in Seattle, Washington as well as California and a practicing Attorney for the Supreme Court of India as well. Anu Peshawaria is a pioneer in Indian American laws.
She is a human rights activist and has been an advisor to various governmental and non-governmental organizations including the Anna Harare movement in India and the NRIAC (Non Resident Indians against Corruption) in USA. She has authored several books on Immigrant Rights in the US including “Lives on the Brink, Bridging the chasm between India and United States”
Besides being academically and professionally accomplished, she has been a famous tennis player, India no 1, USPTA, as well as represented India at Wimbledon.
