Celebration of 75th Republic Day at Chicago Consulate

The Consulate General of India in Chicago celebrated the 75th Republic Day of India on Friday, 26 January 2024.

The event started with Consul General Somnath Ghosh, unfurling the National Flag, followed by the singing of the National Anthem of India. The Consul General read out the Address of the President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu spoke on the India-US strategic partnership and the valuable contributions of the Indian diaspora.

ChicagoA cultural program was organized. This included a Hindustani classical instrumental by Souryadeep Bhattacharya on Sarod accompanied by Tabla player Arun Sabapathy; Odissi dance performance by Colin Mascarenhas and Ms. Neeti Sabarwal from Aikyam Odissi Dance Collective Chicago; and a rendition of patriotic songs by Ishaan Ahmed and Ms. Nalini Parikh.

The program was attended by State Senator Ram Villivalam; Cook County Treasurer Ms. Maria Pappas, and prominent members of the Indian diaspora.
