Dhake Industries boosting trade ties with Brazil

DETRORIT, MI: A high ranking nine-member business delegation led by Michigan Lt. Gov. Brian Calley has just returned from a six day investment mission to Brazil. It is expected to pave the way for improved trade relationship between the two sides besides providing new job-creating investments opportunities for Michigan, according to Arjun Dhake, a member delegate.

Calley and the nine-member team had a series of meetings with prospective partners, distributors and buyers to increase export opportunities from Michigan to Brazil. In addition to one-on-one matchmaking appointments, the group also got customized market research, market entry strategy and business service support. The mission sponsored by the Michigan Economic Development Corp came back on May 18 charged with lot of optimism on boosting trade with Brazil

Arjun Dhake, Vice President of Business Development Dhake Industries that has already some presence in Brazil, was the only delegate of Indian origin and he exuded confidence that his company would gain immensely from this visit.

Holding a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Arjun had his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business. He is the second generation Indian involved in the management and operations of Dhake Industries

The delegation took part in announcing the Michigan Brazil Center located in São Paulo that had a soft launch in 2012. The office will serve several purposes for the state and Michigan businesses, including attracting foreign direct investment and export trade development between Michigan and Brazil. Delegates also met with leaders from the Federation of Industries from the State of São Paulo (FIESP), representing 132 industry trade organizations catering to more than 150,000 companies.

Brazil, the largest country in South America, is home to a highly diversified and industrialized economy that offers enormous growth opportunities for Michigan businesses. Dhake Industries was established in 1979 and is a leading supplier of specialty coatings for engineered plastics.

Dhake’s Engineering, Research, Quality Assurance and Application Laboratories are all located in Plymouth. It built its reputation in the Auto industry by strictly following certain criteria like customer satisfaction, superior quality of products, excellent service and top of the line R & D.
