DuPage Senior Citizens Council organize Meals on Wheels program

CHICAGO: Outside of the Abington Distinctive Banquets Downs Grove. Sushila Ray the Location Manager o the DuPage Seniors Citizens Council said that currently we are providing lunch out side the Banquet butthe meal pick up events from Abbington Distinctive Banquets began in September 2020.

“Currently we are serving meals from this particular location twice a month on Wednesdays,but we have delivered more meals to homebound seniors than any other organization in Illinois”. But DSCC is more than Meals on Wheels. IT is dedicated to helping seniors navigate through the daily challenges they face as they age.

DuPage Senior Citizens Council organize Meals on Wheels program She added that “We also provide services from Well-Being Checks to Minor Home Repairs to helping seniors care for their pets, DSCC provides important services that help our seniors live independently.

We have meals on wheels menus, Minor Home Repair services, Contractor Referrals, Health & Wellness education, Pet Care & Food, Assistance, Community Assistance, Community Dinning, Friendly Visits and Assistance, Friendly Phone Calls, Senior Sign up and Yard Clean Ups Services we are providing to our community. “

DSCC offers a wide variety of food choices Bedsides delivering meals to seniors in DuPage County. Whether it is traditional comfort foods, fresh summer salads or spicy ethnic foods, DSCC has something for everyone. All home-delivered meals include 1%, skim milk or calcium fortified water and margarine. We do offer substitutions for those seniors needing diabetic/calorie control. Please note that some of our menu items are subject to change without prior notice.

Meals on Wheels started in 1954 in Philadelphia when a small group of citizen delivered the first meal to seniors in need. They have been delivering meals ever since. Today, Meals on Wheels America helps over 2.4 MILLION seniors each year with home-delivered meals and other support services. Food is provided by Jigar’s Kitchen in Carol Stream. The person who has coordinated the pickup is Tracy Halunka who is Nutrition Operations Manager. Working at the event will be Ashley Mitchell who is an Administrative Assistant
