Consul Generals serve for three-year terms and go back to work at the Ministry of External Affairs or to an Indian embassy in another part of the world. The Bay area was fortunate to have had numerous Consuls Generals who have made a favorable impression on the local Indo-American community and the mainstream community at large.

Consul General Prasad after his successful three-year term which he took charge during the COVID times is appointed as Ambassador to Kazakhstan. He has been receiving numerous farewell parties from various associations, businesses and individuals from the SF Bay area, Southern California, Oregon and Arizona.

University of Silicon Andhra in partnership with various Bay area associations hosted the farewell lunch for Dr TV Nagendra Prasad, CGISF on July 23, 2023. FIA/FOG members joined the Farewell Party in the Bay Area to celebrate and honor Consul General Dr. Prasad’s outstanding service and invaluable contributions to the Diaspora community.

The event was organized on behalf of the Bay area Indian community from various organizations. Members shared personal stories and experiences that were truly heart-warming. The diaspora community would like to wish CG Prasad and his wife Padmavathi ji the very best in their future endeavors.

Dr. Prasad has been pivotal in bringing together the Indian community like never before. As we’ve witnessed his leadership, grace, and warmth during the past four years, what stands out is his deep commitment to help the community.

The strong consensus is that Dr. Prasad has set a high bar. He is now appointed as Ambassador to Kazakhstan, said Anand Kuchibotla, University of SiliconAndhra.

Your service as Consul General has been a shining example of excellence and leadership, leaving a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire others for years to come, said Dr Romesh Japra, Chairman, FIA.

The event was attended by members of various regional organizations such as RANA, BATM, BATS, UPMA, Shasta Foods to name a few.

Institute of Chartered Accountants, San Francisco chapter in collaboration with TiE Silicon Valley, IIT Startups, American Tamil Entrepreneurs Association (ATEA), and CAStartups hosted the farewell event on July 24 at Amber in Los Altos, California.

Vish Arunachalam, founder, chairman, and director of ICAI, San Francisco chapter on hosting a collaborative farewell told,  “He is somebody who deserves the appreciation of making a huge difference in uniting the community and diaspora.” He added, “He has played an important role in such a strategic place, Silicon Valley, where we have some of the most valuable companies in the history of humanity, like Google, Apple, and so, in that ecosystem he is acting as a catalyst.”

Dr. Nagendra Prasad expressed his gratitude to these organizations, and said that every event they held had one goal of ‘strengthing the US-India partnership’. In his parting comments, Dr.Prasad had this advice for Indian Americans: “Keep working for India’s growth story. There are several ways you can be part of India’s economic growth through charity, business, and tech collaborations.”

He also urged the Indian Americans of San Francisco to send their “children to India to learn about their roots and about the Indian cultural heritage. In 15-20 years from now, people will be migrating back to India.

Children must know about their roots, their country”. He urged the community to “remain united to strengthen the India, US relationship”. During the events, in a lighter mood Padmavathi Prasad, wife of the consul general, too shared her life as a spouse of a diplomat and how she engages with diplomat spouses and hosts yoga events.
