CHICAGO: A recently set up no profit organization of Indian Americans, the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) of Chicago, is living up to its tradition of hosting India Day Parade second year in succession in suburb of Chicago.
FIA is an umbrella organization of all Indian associations in the Chicago land and Midwest area for the Indian community. It represents over 150,000 culturally diverse but united individuals and families as Asian Indians and a part of the bigger American picture.
The FIA Chicago represents and connects various issues of the growing Asian-Indian community at the local, State, and national platform, within USA and overseas with the Indian Government.
FIA Chicago annually celebrates various events that bring together all Asian-Indians for Indian Republic Day, and Independence Day. This year, FIA will celebrate India’s 66th Independence Day with three major celebrity events:
Event I: A Grand Gala sumptuous dinner, On Saturday, August 18 at 6:00 pm at Meadows Club, 2950 W. Golf Road, Rolling Meadows
Event II: A colorful Independence Day parade, on Sunday, August 19 starting at 01:00 pm (from Infinity Car Dealership), 1075 W. Golf Road, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169
Omkar Singh Sangha, the current President, said, “We will expect participation from a large segment of Indian as well as American community with dozens of Government dignitaries such as the Governor, Lt. Governor, State Treasurer, State Congressmen, State Representatives and Mayors of various suburbs/ cities and Indian Consulate General staff to grace this patriotic celebration.”
The added attraction this time will be the presence of a young, vibrant and beautiful Bollywood star Ms. Prachi Desai from Mumbai. Prachi will attend FIA Grand Gala Banquet as Chief Guest and also attend FIA Parade as Grand Marshall.
Prachi Desai, after making a mark as TV actress in Jhalak Dikhla Ja 2, serials Kasam Se and Kasauti Zindagi Ki, she is now a Bollywood actress of successful films like “Rock On” and “Bol Bachchan”
