FOG Diwali Mela in Pleasanton hosted by FIA

Diwali_fireworks_3-webFREMONT, CA: This year FOG Diwali Mela hosted by FIA of Northern California is scheduled on Oct 24 at Alameda county fairgrounds, Pleasanton for all day and over 80 vendors and over 30,000 audiences are expected to participate in it.

The Federation of Indian Associations is a Fremont based umbrella 501-c (3) organization. It consists of over 40 member organizations. Over the last 23 years, The Federation has continued to work with its member organizations in working on various community based initiatives, and has emphasized that its members continue to remain engaged in every aspect of our community. This event has continued to garner participants from all over Northern California, and has attracted luminaries and dignitaries from all over the world.

Diwali is the largest and the most important festival of India, to the scale of the Christmas and New Year’s celebration. Diwali celebrates the victory of good over evil, where every household lights colorful lamps to welcome Goddess Lakshmi, symbol of wealth and prosperity.

FOG Diwali in Pleasanton strives to bring the flavor of Diwali celebrations and create an ambience of festivities on this particular day. The idea is to provide an opportunity to the first generation Indians to remember the good old days of Diwali festivities and bring together the younger generation to flaunt this beautiful festival while showcasing our rich Indian heritage and culture.

FOG Diwali Mela in Pleasanton is the only fair (mela) in the entire Bay area with grand fireworks and a laser light display and more than 20,000 people attended the event in the first year in 2014. Attendance to the carnival has been very encouraging and this year it is likely to touch 50,000 attendees. Besides the Bay area, the festival organizers are expecting people from neighboring cities including Tracy, Fairfield, and Sacramento.

Diwali Mela will include celebrations throughout the day through cultural shows, display of Diwali festivities along with booths and vendors from various Corporate houses via Airlines, Money Transfers, India Property Show, Media, Insurance, TV Channels, Mortgage Companies, Banks, Realtors, Tours, Cruises, Films, Entertainment and local business houses like Boutiques, Jewelers, Fashion, Arts, Handicrafts, Gifts, Food, Snacks, Mehendi, Photographers, DJs, Video, Decors and more.

The event will also include fun filled entertainment throughout the day for people of all ages, professional entertainment and prominent elected officials from local townships and much more. There will be a petting zoo, animal rides and kid’s corner to entertain the tiny-tots. Cultural performances, live music band, fashion show and Jhankian are the other attractions of this Mela.

Wells Fargo is the official fireworks sponsors of this gala event. The Alameda County Fire Department, with the sponsorship of Wells Fargo Bank, will host this year’s fireworks display from 8.30 p.m. onward.
