FOG India Republic day brings community together

FOG India Republic Day was celebrated with great fervor and patriotism at Fremont Hindu Temple. Organized by Festival of Globe (FOG) and Fremont Hindu Temple, the event was attended by hundreds of Indian Americans. Mayors from Fremont and Santa Clara, along with Assembly members, council members and several elected officials graced the occasion and conveyed their celebratory messages congratulating achievements by India and Indians here in US.

FOG Founder – Dr. Romesh Japra, FOG President- Rajesh Verma, and FOG Parade- Chair KP Maheshwari highlighted contributions of Indian community toward American growth and need for Indo-Americans to get more involved in political process at local and national levels. Consul General of India Dr. T.V. Nagendra Prasad gave the keynote speech and gave republic day message. FOG Media Chair Ritu Maheshwari said that this year there was tremendous response to the Republic Day celebration and thanked all media for supporting.

A salient feature of the function was participation by over 50 community associations. These associations have been partnering with FOG to bring excellent programs and events to community through out the year. Representing most of the states and groups of India, they strive hard to bring Indian heritage, culture and values to Bay Area community. All associations were recognized and honored with proclamation acknowledging their commitment and success.

FOG organizes several large events in Bay Area, including India Republic Day, FOG Holi, FOG India Independence Day Parade, FOG Diwali and FOG Toy and Blanket Drive, along with many other functions in collaboration with over 50 partner organizations.
