FREMONT CA: Newly appointed Fremont City Chief of Police Floyd Mitchell visited Fremont Hindu Temple to meet and greet devotees. As part of his outreach efforts towards community, Chief Mitchel attended the congregation during Sunday afternoon on 12th August.
The main hall was filled with over hundred community members eager to partner with the city police to ensure safety in the neighborhood. Meeting started with temple priest offering mantras to bring peace, prosperity and harmony in the community.
Dr. Japra, founder and chairman of the temple gave an overview of key community concerns such as theft and vandalism in the temple, chain snatching in the vicinity and lack of progress in catching the thieves.
Chief Mitchell assured of increasing the staffing levels within his team to provide more visible policing and improved response times.
Temple devotee and Fremont City Mayor Raj Salwan enumerated city’s efforts in addressing Fremont’s key issues such as homelessness and traffic safety.
After the meeting, all devotees and Police chief partook in Preeti Bhoj lunch.
Former Council member Teresa Cox helped organize the meeting and supported the work Temple is doing for the community.
