Shriji Mandir Temple & International Global Charity, Non-profit organization donates brand new Shoes and Socks to Underserved Children of the Neighborhood of Bellflower City – about 80 children and youth in the area, received a new pair of Shoes & Socks on Sunday’s event, sponsored by many friends who believe in serving less fortunate children.
Most of the kids we work with are low income, homeless or, are an extremely high risk of being homeless and unable to meet basic needs. Many children walk miles with holes on the bottom of their shoes. And often, when it’s raining, they can get foot disease because of the wetness of their socks and shoes. We can help prevent that and help them carry on with a somewhat normal life by giving them a pair of shoes.
The kids were thrilled. As soon as they opened the box, they started to put their shoes on, started to dance and show off the shoes. “It was really overwhelming,” said Rekha Bajaria Vice President of Shriji Mandir, adding, “We are also big on encouraging these children with continuing with their education.”
“Our aim is helping them get into education programs and encourage them to be more involved in school,” Rika Shah said. “We want to encourage them to stay in school and offer them computers, sponsorship & tutoring.”
The event was a great success – Thanks to Mayor Dan Koops; Victor Perez Councilman & Non-Profit Director; Mayor of Cerritos Naresh Solanki & IGC President Mike Patel.
