CHICAGO: A grand Eid celebration event is planned for Sunday June 24, at DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton, a Southside suburb of Chicago.
The day-long Eid Fest will start at noon and end at 9 pm. Aside from having numerous ethnic sumptuous food stalls, booths will also be available for free health screening, vendors selling cultural attires as well as artifacts, immigration advisory counseling, voter registration, fun activities for kids, and much more. Folkloric entertainment programs will also spice up the festivity.
Eid is the most important religious and cultural festival of the Muslim community. Free admission and open to all faiths and groups, the joyful gala is held after the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
DuPage County Fairgrounds can hold about 3,000 people. Many community leaders, politicians, and elected officials are expected to attend it.
