CHICAGO: The Hindu Mandir of Lake County, Grayslake, a Chicago suburb celebrated Hanuman Jayanti as the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman with great fervor and devotion.
More than three hundred devotees attended the program on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, the Purnima Tithi, the full moon day of Shukla Paksha in the Chaitra Masa. Devotees gathered to celebrate Hanuman’s divine grace and ask for his blessings for happiness, prosperity, and spiritual fulfillment. Lord Hanuman, the son of Anjana and Kesari, is also called Vanara God, Bajrangbali and Vayu Dev. Known for his unwavering devotion to Lord Rama and Sita; Hanuman is also referred as Anjaneya.
The program started with sponsor Sankalp and followed by Lord Ganesh, Hanuman Ji, and Ram Parivar Pujan. Devotees chanted Hanuman Chalisa, a hymn in the praise of Hanuman 100 times. Neera and Madhup Dhoan lead this chanting. Temple priests, Pt. Anil Joshi Ji, Pt Balaji Gopal, and Pt. Radha Krishna along with sponsor devotees performed Abhishekam of Lord Hanuman Ji with Saffron milk. Lord Hanuman reverberated with Vedic Mantras and shloka. Then came the exciting scene of Baby Hanuman Ji entering into shrine while devotes chanting slogans such as Ram Lakshman Janaki, Jai Bolo Hanuman Ki and Shree Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram.
Devotees brought homemade traditional Chappan Bhog for Naivedyam and, later served it as Maha Prasadam to all the devotees. Pt, Joshi Ji thanked and blessed all the devotees for their active participation and great success in their lives.
