Indian consular services in St. Louis

ST LOUIS: The Mahatma Gandhi Cultural Center and India Association of St. Louis held Consular Services July 13in the Auditorium of Mahatma Gandhi Center.

The Indian Consulate sent three officers for successful conduction of the event. The officers were L.P. Gupta, R.K. Singh and Asim Mandal. The event was coordinated by SathishNanjappa, the secretary of India Association of St. Louis. Ashwin Patel, a front-ranking community activist helped with not only notary services, but also details regarding other amenities available to the people of Indian origin, such as OCI, passport renewals and lost passports.

The event was successfulthrough the sponsorship and cooperation of the directors of the two Indian organizations incorporated in St. Louis. Krishna Rao, the immediate past President and HaridasKartha, the President-elect of India Association coordinated the activities on the floor.St.Louis

The event saw over 50 families availing the opportunity. However, many were disappointed and left as the services did not include the issuance of the visas, acceptance of OCI applications and renewal of passports on the spot. However, other services that included attestations of important documents were well received.

Sharath Rao, president of the Hindu temple in St. Louis, took the group around the newly built facilities of the temple.

The Board of Mahatma Gandhi Cultural Center comprises Anjan Roy (President), Vijaya Kumar Buddhiraju (Secretary/Treasurer), DundooRaghunandan, MohinderPartap, Kurichety Prasad, VenkatBodavula, Raj Thakur, JitendraParbhuand and PalaniappanSuppiah.

The members of the India Association Board are Snanjeeva Rao Chintakunta (President), HaridasKartha (President-elect), SathishNanjappa (Secretary), Vijaya Lakshmi Buddhiraju (Treasurer), GirijaKasinadhuni, Meera Jain, VijayaBhutoria and Suren Pathuri.
