Indians condole on death of Pope Emeritus

CHICAGO: Indians have offered condolences on the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who died on December 31 in Vatican City.

The move is led by Rajan Zed, President of Universal Society of Hinduism, when he said that all are saddened by the passing of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, an esteemed theologian, prolific writer, and an intellectual powerhouse with an unwavering faith in morality and ethics.

Indians appreciated and admired Benedict’s advocacy of peace and nuclear disarmament; commitment to improving the human condition; defending the rights of displaced people, migrants, refugees; emphasizing that God is love; fostering of interreligious dialogue; promoting fairer distribution of wealth; stand against excessive consumerism and unethical forms of capitalism; support of environmental causes; urging the world to strive for common good; etc.
