Indians protest against Na-Pak activities

CHICAGO: Irked and upset at the unwholesome activities of some government or government aided agencies instigating military conflicts against India or disturbances in the country, a good number of community activists staged a peaceful protest against the Pakistani Consulate in Chicago on August 14, the day Pakistan came into existence with the division of Indian subcontinent.

The activists were also induced and incensed by passivity on the part of the Indian government. Many felt that the Indian Diaspora needs to make up for this inactivity on the part of the Indian government and bring this into sharp focus so that the concerted interests in India and Pakistan wake up try to resolve the problem.

A group of activists gathered at 11-30 am in the morning and stayed put there till 1 p.m. Some of the community members are active in different community organizations. They were Shamkant Sheth Prasad Yalamanchi (chair) and his nephew, Nirav Patel, Sohan Joshi, Sridhar Damle, Jitentra Diganvker, Shrinaryan Chandhak, Vandana Jhingan, Raja Babu and Harendra Mangrola.

The group leaders then presented a memorandum to the Pakistani Consul General. The memorandum detailed the concerns of the Indian community at large.
