SAN ANTONIO, Texas: The Leuva Patidar Samaj of USA (LPS of USA) held its Annual Super Convention & Trade Show at the Crowne Plaza-Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas.
Convention Chair and Ex Offico Hasubhai Patel of Houston, Texas stated this was a very successful conference with 1000 plus attendees of all age groups and a large Leuva youth turnout.
The convention theme of “Securing a legacy for Leuva Culture in the USA” was the core agenda which included prominent speakers such as Congressman Francisco “Quico” Canseco Texas District 23 and motivational speakers such as Devin C Hughes and Greg Blake with a message of hope for a hope-seeking world and a message of certainty for uncertain times.
Patel said the purpose of the convention was to have the members’ network in a forum where they could discuss and share ideas, promote Leuva culture and family values, and unite together as Asian Leuva Americans. “We strongly believe that the LPS conference provided an excellent opportunity for our members to meet and interact with our each other.”
Hasubhai said,” The youth play the most important role in our samaj and therefore, it is essential that we preserve our heritage and cultural values.”
In addition to the speakers, the agenda appealed to an array of diversified age groups including youth, women & senior citizens where seminars were filled with attendees. There were live interactive bhajan melodies, women’s seminar on issues affecting the Leuva women and a very informative medicare seminar.
The convention had some great educational seminars that were both informative and interactive. There was a “Bridging the Generation Gap” Panel discussion with some strong panelists on the current issues affecting our community as well as between the generations. These seminars provided a great opportunity to network, experience and learn about strengthening and preserving the culture.
The agenda goal was to promote the Leuva heritage and cultural values to the youth in the community and energize the already existing efforts to inspire a better way of life through humanitarian culture of love, service, purity, discipline, and dedication. Hasubhai Patel said, “It is important to utilize youth energy for social & economic development and for spiritual enlightenment.”
The first night had performances from the local surrounding Leuva members for the “Cultural Program” which showed true flair that “Leuvas Got Talent”. Entertainment was superb from”Sensations” that included Indian Idol Sandip Acharya and Sa Re Ga Ma Fame Pratibha Singh.
Hasubhai Patel, Ex Officio from Houston, Texas passed the torch to incoming President Kirit Patidar from Jacksonville, Florida to take on to leave a legacy during his term.
Kirit Patidar as the current LPS President is a visionary leader who would like to harness all of the great values and beliefs that will help move the organization to the next level. Some of the goals that Mr. Patidar wants to accomplish is creating a state of the art website, mentorship program to inspire and benefit the youth, implement a solid governance model to run the organization with structure and accountability, drive membership with solid participation, and complete the LPS Members Directory Project as well as continue the LPS Call Center project from Hasu Patel’s term.
The association is looking forward to a great change this year with a newly elected board and the passion of these board members will help take the organization to the next level.
The success of this convention would not have been possible without the gracious, hard working and dedicated Texas Leuva Patidar members who proved this to be a much unified Leuva community. Hands down they came in groups of dozens to take on every aspect of the convention execution with a smile on their face each day and provided world class hospitality.
LPS members migrated to the United States beginning in the early 1940s.There are over 40,000 families of Leuva Patidars throughout the United States. The majority of LPS members are multiple hotel and motel owners with both franchised and independent properties. A major characteristic of the members is to preserve family values and heritage.
This is the primary reason that the convention attracts families from all over the United States. San Antonio has always attracted a large number of attendees due to the city’s reputation as a tourist destination, the central location of the city and because several major airlines operates through it.
