SANTA CLARA, CA: The Indian Academy Awards, conceptualized by Brainstorm Entertainment and executed by Cineyug, will be held in California from July 7-8 to celebrate world cinema of three major film industries – Bollywood, Tollywood and Hollywood.
The Indian Academy Awards will be a two-day extravaganza of live performances by various superstars of Bollywood, including Shah Rukh, that will be choreographed by Shiamak Davar along with music and fashion shows.
It will have everything a cinema aficionado could hope for – from the biggest stars of this generation to industry veterans, both from the Hindi film industry as well as the South Indian Film industry, appealing to a wider NRI audience.
A press conference was held on Jan 27 at Hyatt Regency in Santa Clara for the launch of Indian Academy awards. The conference was attended by Bollywood queen Madhuri Dixit Nene, Consul General Ambassador Venkatesan Ashok, Vandana Krishna and Saurabh Pandey, Brainstorm Entertainment, Aly Morani, Cineyug. The event was attended by IAA US partners Ritu Panesar, Dr Vijay Tiwari and Silkey Jain. Media and community leaders were in full attendance to show their support for the debut awards in the host city.
Brainstorm Entertainment announced the Indian Academy Awards (IAA), which aims to take the Indian film industry closer to its global dream. Shah Rukh Khan launched the awards logo and the Golden Knight Trophy at an event in Mumbai in December 2016.
Talking about her association with the awards, Madhuri Dixt said, “I’m happy to associate with the first-of-its kind Indian Academy Awards, which is an amalgamation of everything a cinema lover could hope for”.
Speaking on the concept, Vandana Krishna said, “IAA aims to become a truly global and democratic award ceremony that will redefine the entertainment world. What makes these awards stand out is the fact that they invite a global audience to be part of the jury, by a simple registration process.
We also have one of the biggest certifying agencies in the world to authenticate the voting process. People can vote their favorite films, stars in over 21 categories from the official website of Indian Academy Awards starting March 2017. It will be a two-day desi style extravaganza. California is a perfect destination to showcase this for both American and Indian audiences.”
The two-day celebration will kick off with a fashion show and a musical extravaganza that will feature some of the biggest Indian musicians and international artists. It will close with the grand finale of the Bollywood, Hollywood and Tollywood award ceremony – a heady mix of grand sets, exquisite costumes and a galaxy of stars, said Aly Morani, Cineyug.
Consul General Venkatesan Ashok said: “We are very pleased to support the collaboration, which will help create a deeper connection between the United States and India, the two biggest democracies in the world.”

Prior to the grand July extravaganza, two events have been planned in March and May, one to honor the Women Achievers of Bay area and other being a business conclave.
