ITANAGAR: The Maharashtra government will make available chartered aircraft to take students of Northeast back to educational institutions in Pune or Mumbai from Guwahati.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan told a goodwill team from Arunachal Pradesh, led by MP Takan Sanjoy, yesterday that concessional chartered flights would be offered to students willing to go back.

In a statement, Sanjoy quoted Chavan as saying, “If state governments send written requisitions, officials will be ready to receive students at airports to escort them to their institutions with full security.”

Suggesting preparation of a list of all NE students studying in various cities in Maharashtra, Chavan promised allotting land near major educational institutions in the state for constructing hostels for NE students.

Appreciating the initiative of the Arunachal Pradesh government to send the goodwill team, Chavan has said another plot of land will be allotted in Mumbai for constructing an Arunachal Bhawan. –PTI
