CHICAGO: Maria Pappas Cook County treasurer hosted Diwali at the treasurer office for the 1st time in the history of Illinois State on November 5 2021 along with Indo-US Lions Club
Indian Consul General, Amit Kumar was the Chief guest. He congratulated Indo-US Lions Club and Ms. Pappas for hosting the event and spoke about the significance of Diwali and the celebration as big step in creating awareness about cultural heritage of India.
Maria Pappas recognized a few leaders for excellence service award for their contribution to Indo-US communities during covid-19. The celebration was well attended by many community leaders and each attendee was recognized by certificate for community service presented by Maria Pappas office in collaboration with the Indo-US club.
Lion Hina Trivedi spoke about the selfless efforts by the Chicago Indo-US Lions club in helping families with donations of school supplies, backpacks, coat drive,s and food drive. The club recently helped many patients in India with ventilators as well.
