Picnic hosted by BSC attracts 1200

CHICAGO: More the 1200 people attended Picnic hosted by the Bhartiya Senior Citizens (BSC) of Chicago at the Turner Park in Rosella, a northwest suburb of Chicago, on June 17.

It was hot but the BSC team was well prepared with cold drinks like lemonade, lemon and strawberry, soft drinks, ice gola and water melon. More than 20 volunteers went on to serve in hot weather.

The picnic started at 9 am and ended by 6 pm. The morning breakfast consisted of masala tea, coffee, Methina Gota, Kadhi and Fafda, Jalebee and onions.

BSC also organized Bollywood music for entertainment. There was a water fountain nearby and the kids enjoyed water games. In the afternoon Cook County Commissioner Tim Snyder and Schaumburg Village Township’s Nimesh Jain joined the picnic. The Commissioner requested all seniors to support him in the forthcoming election and promised all help that seniors need to address their problems.

State Representative Christine Winger also joined picnic and she asked for help for voting in coming election. BSC President thanked all guests and dignitaries who came to the Picnic.

During lunch there was Paw Bhaji with Chatni, Athanu (Mango Pickle) with Chhach. By 3 pm began games like Musical chair, Bingo. Winners received various prizes. At 6 pm BSC volunteers served Indian meal consisting of Khichadi, Saag, Mohanthal, Puri, Kadhi, Athanu & Chhachh.

Shaan Live Concert was announced for July 8 at Dupage county Fairgrounds in Wheaton. Tickets for Jai Shri Krishna show presented by BSC on June 24 at Meadows Club in Rolling Meadows were available. ‘Sairamdave” show on July 14 at Jain Center in Bartlett was also announced.

Haribhai Patel, President of BSC, thanked all committee members for having worked so hard to ensure the success of the Picnic.
