SAN FRANCISCO, CA: Priya Dutt, trustee Nargis Dutt Memorial Charitable Trust (NDMCT), recently visited Bay Area to promote and fundraise trust activities.
Priya visited various NDMCT chapters to support their annual events. She spoke about Trust and SF chapter activities during the press conference.
Through Nargis Dutt Cancer Foundation (NDCF), NDMCT is at the forefront of supporting fight against cancer in India. It was established in 1981 in memory of Priya’s mother Nargis Dutt, with the objective of providing care for cancer patients in India.
It started in a humble way with efforts of a few individuals in New York. It has since grown all over US in many states. There are many other cities on the anvil. San Francisco chapter was formed in 1991 and has been active ever since. Ms. Dutt was recognized for NDCF work by California Assembly member Bob Wieckowski.
NDCF aims to provide basic health facilities in India. It has been setting up rural hospitals in India. So far $25M+ has been raised and used to provide medical facilities in India. NDCF provides bone marrow transplants, dialysis treatment, pediatric cancer treatment and palliative care among other treatments. Ms. Dutt said that “there is lot more to be done to improve medical care in India.
This is great opportunity for all people from India to give back to their country. NDCF uses 100% of donations for the projects. Everyone works voluntarily and out of dedication and commitment”.
A new Palliative care center is being set up in Pune. Palliative care is all about keeping people comfortable after the active treatment ends.
San Francisco chapter President Dr. Bhupinder Bhandari and Vice President Mahesh Pakala mentioned that there is a huge fund raiser being held in Santa Clara Convention Center featuring Ustad Shujaat Hussain Khan on November 4 at 5 pm.
Mr. Mahesh Pakala, Reena Rao and Dr. Bhupinder Bhandari are working hard and organizing the local chapter activities.
