WASHINGTON DC: US Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi met with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar in Washington DC last week. Varadkar is the son of a physician from Mumbai and a nurse from Ireland’s County Waterford, making him the first Irish Prime Minister of Indian heritage.
“As an Indian-American Congressman, it was an honor to meet Prime Minister Varadkar, Ireland’s first Indian-Irish Prime Minister, even more so the week of St. Patrick’s Day,” said Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi. “Indians and people of Indian descent continue to thrive across the world, and meeting the Prime Minister was a moving reminder of the many Indian families like ours who’ve made their lives across the world while always cherishing their heritage.”
