RP Rama New global president of HFTP

GREENVILLE, South Carolina: Raman P. Rama was recently installed as global president of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) at the association’s 2012 Annual Convention & Tradeshow in Orlando, Florida. HFTP, founded in 1952, is the global professional association for financial and technology personnel working in hotels, clubs and other hospitality-related businesses.
With 4300 members worldwide, HFTP provides first class educational opportunities, research, and publications to members around the globe including, the premiere hospitality technology conference HITEC. HFTP also awards the only hospitality specific certifications for accounting and technology –the Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE) and the Certified Hospitality Technology Professional (CHTP) designations. HFTP is currently working on a Global Hospitality Accounting System Users Guide, a new resource for the industry.
Raman P. Rama (R.P.) has been a member of HFTP since 1991. He is Principal, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer/Chief Information Officer for JHM Hotels based in Greenville, South Carolina. R.P. has a Baccalaureate Degree in Business and Accounting from Maharaja Sayajirao University. He serves on the advisory boards of the hotel schools of the University of South Carolina and the University of Delaware, and also that of the Carolina Culinary Institute in Greenville, SC.
He is a director on the Marriott & Starwood IT Advisory Boards, the South Carolina Hospitality Association, and a member of the AAHOA Educational Advisory Committee.
In his new role as President of HFTP, R.P. has a great vision for growth globally. He wants to branch out into regions with vibrant hospitality business, with a focus in Brazil, Russia, India and China.
