CHICAGO: Bhartiya Senior Citizens of Chicago celebrated 68th Independence of India and the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, Janmasthami on August 16 in Carol Stream, a northwest suburb of Chicago, with lot of enthusiasm and devotion.

More then 300 members and guests participated in this event that started with prayers and welcome address from Vice President of BSC Parsotam Pandya. The Chief Guest was 70 year old Mahendrabhai Megani. President of BSC Haribhai Patel introduced Mahendrabhai Megani.

Executive member Madhubhai Patel talked about significance of Independence; how the big day had arrived 68 years ago. Shivabhai Patel gave an account of the importance of Janmashtmi.

Members did the march and saluted the American flag and Indian flag. They sang national anthems of both countries, India and USA. Pratima Shah and Ramsing Parmar and their team performed Independence and Janmashtami drama.

Vice President Parshotam Pandya announced the names of those whose birthday and wedding anniversary fell in August. During this event, Mahendrabhai, son of Jawerchand Megani, sang poetry regarding freedom of India.

Everybody enjoyed his recital. At the end of this event Haribhai Patel (President of BSC) thanked every one who did the hard work for the success of this event. Members enjoyed delicious dinner.
