Seniors enjoy picnic, Janmashtami & India Day

CHICAGO: Seniors of United Senior Pariwar celebrated picnic, Janmashtami and Independence Day of India on Sunday August 20 with about 300 seniors attending the event.

All those present enjoyed hearty lunch of Garam Gota, Idali Sambhar, Jalebi, tea and coffee. Secretary Ramesh Chokshi welcomed all guests. President Ramanbhai Patel, Trustee Board Chairman Mafatbhai Patel, Narsinhbhai Patel and Vice President Chhitubhai Patel lighted the ceremonial lamp and performed puja for Lord Krishna.

Ramanbhai Patel gave a small speech on Janmashtami. Narsibhai Patel talked about how all seniors have to enjoy and lead a purposeful life. “Keep yourself healthy doing exercise and do yoga. Also if you got chance visit different places in world,” he said.

Mafatbhai Patel greeted every one and offered good wishes for Janmasthami and Independence Day while Dr Dhiren Mistry said he was very happy to see all seniors enjoying their life at the Seniors Association.

Well known Chicago singer Shardbhai Parekh sang some bhajans for Lord Krishna and every one took part. Other members Ashwin Patel, Dr. Hemaben Rana, Mahesbhai Danak, Bhadra Shah, Bhaminiben Acharya, Bhargavi Pandya also sang bhajans.

All members enjoyed the Matkifod program with “Govinda Alla Re and enjoyed sweets.

All members participated in the celebration of 71st Independence Day of India by saluting the National Flag and singing the National Anthem.

President Ramanbhai Patel made observations on Independence Day and how India was progressing under the BJP Government. He prayed for more progress.

Seniors enjoyed Mango Lassi, Ice cream, water melon. They played different games and Antakshree. The dinner had Masala Khichadi, Chhas, Shak, Puri and Mohan thal.
