SKOKIE: Scores of members of the Indian community in and around Skokie village actively participate in American Independence Day Parade on July 4, organized in Skokie.
In spite of scorching heat with the temperature running at 100 degree F , there was a huge crowd lining up both sides of the street and side ways reflective of huge patriotic fervor and enthusiasm.
Members of the Indian community decorated two mini vans so that people, who get tired walking during the parade, could take a break and sit in the minivans.
DJ Chawala entertained the crowd with Bollywood stuff. People were seen dancing on the sidewalks when the Indian floats passed through and cheered the marchers in the Parade.
More than 86 floats participated in the Parade. Students of Kapapadma took active part along with different community members. After the Parade there was a delicious lunch ready at Kamaria’s residence for all those who participated in the Parade.
