United Indian Community of So-Cal celebrates 74th Republic Day of India

United Indian American communities of southern California celebrated the 74th Republic Day of India on 22nd January with great patriotic zeal and fervor in Tandoor Cuisine of India Restaurant, Orange, CA. 

The event commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag, followed by the singing of the National Anthem 

The program was kick-started by patriotic songs by Subhash Tolia, followed by Dandi March, which unfurled the tricolor & then lamp lighting by dignitaries. Dignities were Congresswoman Young Kim, Representative of Congresswoman Michelle Steel, Mayor of Orange – Dan Slater, council member Martin Daly and conveners Kewal Kanda, Dr. Sukrit Mukherjee, and Amrit Bhandari.

In an exclusive interview with, Martin Daly mentioned that he was thrilled to see the Indian American community coming together to celebrate the 74th Republic Day of India with food, music, and cultural performances. Dan Slater congratulated all on the upcoming 74th Republic Day of India and emphasized the contribution of the Indian American population to contribute towards the growth & success of the US.

The MCs of the event were Aarti Chopra and Charu Shivakumar. The program included cultural programs involving local artists and renditions of patriotic songs.  

A unique cultural program by Dr. Sinduri’s students of Savitri Arts Academy and an unforgettable performance by kids on Nanha Munna Rahi Hoon enthralled the audience. This was followed by the recognition of veterans of Indian Military service with flowers bouquets given to Colonel P. Navanitha Krishnan, Major Gurjeet Singh, Captain R.D. Singh, and Captain Aparna Hande.

The performances by students of Ruchi Lamba’s Indian Dance center (IDC), a patriotic poem by Kamlesh Chauhan and Vande Mataram dance by Dr Dimple Kaur group, unfurled patriotism and was lauded by the audience.

A vote of thanks was given by Dr Tanuja Bhandari and Ashika Patel. Around 225 guests including dignitaries and members of the Indian community attended the function.

The guests especially enjoyed the Indian refreshments served at the event. Overall, this was a patriotic celebration with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. Many enthusiastic members of the enthusiastic Indian community, Persons of Indian Origin, and Friends of India participated in the ceremony.

The Republic Day celebration exhibited India’s might and magnificence, filling us with endless pride.
