San Fernando VLY: A premier event ‘Divas Diwali Dhamaka’, featuring designers, fashion vendors, belly dancing, shopping, mehendi booths and fashion shows was held October 22nd at Royal Delhi Palace, Canoga Park. This mega successful show was produced by Shagun Gupta, the founder and owner of LA Fashion Closet. The primary focus of the show was to empower women and bring them together by means of collaboration, highlighting their respective field of work and entrepreneurial skills creating mutual networking and support opportunities. Many small businesswomen were given the opportunity to showcase their businesses to a large crowd.

The opening show was a beautiful dance performance by Rashmi Patnaik of Bollywood Beats dance studio followed by another performance by Soni Chawla, a doctor by profession and an entertainer by passion. Designer Nandini Ratti of Studio Bollywood made her fashion show debut with her festive collection that had stylish Indian party wear.

Local boutique Kama collections by Dolly Jain showcased her designs that had regal elegance with a splash of spunk. Beautiful models rocked the runway looking magnificent in designer outfits. A thrilling, exotic belly dance performance by dancers of LA Bellydance academy took the temperature of the room to a soaring high.

The event was also associated with a non profit organization Sahara cares where Nishta Goel helped in raising funds for victims of domestic abuse in the South Asian community. Akash Gupta, Robert Ryan, Kat Kathy and Farzad Rafehi were photography and videography partners. Neeraja Koshy was the event decorator. This extravaganza was made complete with a lavish Indian buffet and an open bar. In organizing and hosting this mega-entertaining event, Shagun did an outstanding job in promoting and providing a platform to South Asian women and showcasing Indian culture to our American friends.
