AMRITSAR: Shiromani Akali Dal today said it is a “responsible constituent” of NDA and will go with its choice of the prime ministerial candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“SAD is a responsible constituent of NDA…We have always maintained that we would go with NDA as far as the choice of PM candidate is was concerned,” SAD president Sukhbir Badal told reporters here after laying the foundation stone of the Rs 24 crore new building of the local municipal corporation.
SAD had welcomed the BJP’s decision to anoint Narendra Modi as chairman of its Election Campaign Committee for the 2014 polls, saying the decision would be “catalytic” in the alliance’s victory march.
Terming the possibility of formation of the third front as “an imaginary exercise”, Badal claimed NDA will sweep the Lok Sabha polls and free the country from the clutches of the “corrupt Congress”.
Describing the differences between JD (U) and BJP as “NDA’s internal matter”, he said NDA would unitedly fight the general elections with an aim to defeat Congress.
