CHICAGO: Over 300 members and general public benefited from 47th Health fair at Midwest Swaminarayan Temple in Itasca a Chicago suburb, on Sunday, September 18, 2022 held in main and dining halls of the temple.
The Health Fair was sponsored by the Midwest Swaminarayan Temple, Lohana Association of Greater Chicago (LAGC), Gujarati Samaj of Chicago (GSC) and Kadva Patidar Samaj (KPS). The goal was to provide medical check up to all those who may not be able to afford medical service insurance and medical coverage problems.
The Health Fair provided free medical checkup for more than 315 participants. Over 21-doctors volunteered with their services on the day. This year Consent form and medical Assessment form were put on computer and were printed after people’s information put in. Vital data such as height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, were checked for each participant. The Blood Sugar testing and Consultation were provided Volunteers were seen very busy at the blood draw tables.
Blood samples of 290 patients were collected and sent to the UIC laboratory for testing. Reports will be reviewed by doctors and the Blood report will be mailed to each patient within three weeks. Urine Analysis was performed by Dimple Thakkar, Krupaben Shah and Dev Patel. There were 5 EKG Machines deployed to provide EKG for 55 year and above, and continually operated by the volunteers. The EKG results were interpreted to the patients by Cardiologists Dr. Hetal Gandhi. Physical examination and Physical consultation were provided by Primary care Physician doctors. Dr. Rutuja Patel gave guidance and consultation to people with obesity and diabetes.
On this occasion two Aryuvedic Doctor, Dr. Umangi Patel and Dr. Jagruti Patel provided Aryuvedic consultation and advice. Orthopedic and Rheumatology consultation was provided by Dr. Nisarj Gandhi. Chiropractic exam done by Dr. Seema Mani, Acupuncture consultation by Dr. Vadim Dekhtyar and Physical Therapy provided by Nitul Thakkar. Dental Examination and consultation were provided by Dr. Neel Goyal and Dr. Shailval Patel.
There were Nutritional, Diet and Diabetes education were provided by Sweta Sheth and Diptiben Shah. Bone Density Test was performed for women over age of 45. Oby/Gyn services and Bone Density consultation provided by Dr.Lata Gupta Eye Screening and consultation were provided by Dr. Shivani Sampat and Pediatric Consultation Provided by Dr. Varun Sampat. Hearing test and consultation was provided by Dr. Chandra Dachepalli. Flu shots were provided by Sushila Patel, Gita Patel and Narendra Patel.
The Health Fair was well organized. Many happy faces were seen as they received the medical services they needed at one place without cost.
This is the 33rd year that Jayantibhai Thakkar is coordinating Health Fair in various temples in Chicagoland area (1989-2022). This was his 47th Health Fair in his continued services to the Indian Community.
