Milpitas, CA: Diwali is one of the most pious and joyous festival celebrated across India and the world. This year Festival of Globe (FOG) Diwali, the ‘Festival of Lights’ was celebrated on Saturday, October 28th at India Community Center.The unique ‘Ramayan’ performance by ‘Rungmunch’ was the showstopper of the event.

Rungmunch-Theater with a cause, celebrated Diwali in the true spirit of righteousness, symbolizing the victory of good over evil through their presentation of the great Indian epic – Ramayan. K.Srikar Reddy, the Consul General of India, graced the occasion and encouraged performers Ajitesh Gupta, magnificently essaying the role of Raavan; Ritendra, and Roshni Datta dutifully essaying Lord Shri Ram and Sita, Archana Varshney in an entertaining double role of Jatayu and Swarna Mrig and Sunita Merchia with an energetic performance of Hanumaan.

Smita and Madhav Karhade, founders and artistic directors of Rungmunch inspired the audience by speaking of Rungmunch’s dedication to charitable causes through art and being a bridge for Indian expats who want to stay rooted in their traditions, history, and culture.

Celebrating Diwali at a time when there are wars raging in the world and endless layoffs in California continue to make job prospects gloomy, is important because it reminds us about celebrating the light of hope which is most needed in times of despair.

The Festival of Globe (FOG)Diwali dazzled with Indian decorations including strings of marigold flowers, beautiful rangolis, delicious food, and a plethora of cultural celebrations and musical presentations which included both traditional music as well as modern music.

FOG Founder, Dr.Romesh Japra’s commitment to the Indian community and his team’s warm welcome to team Rungmunch is always a prized possession which makes them return every year to FOG events.

Rungmunch’s next production is none other than the Broadway style presentation of Geet Ramayan with live music, dance and over 100 people on stage.
