As election results started pouring in starting Thursday evening, Bay area supporters of Narendra Modi and BJP, led by Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) and Overseas Friends of NaMo sprang into action for consecutive days with a rally in support of the sweeping victory of Bhartiya Janata Party led by Narendra Modi.
The rally was attended by various groups and community leaders including Gujarati Samaj, Friends of India Society International (FISI), Friends of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Sewa International, FIA, GITPRO, HSS, Niraj Baxi, past president of NFIA, Vinod Patel of ICA and many others.
Hundreds of Indians, from all walks, came together on May 16, Friday evening in front of the Milpitas City Hall to celebrate Narendra Modi’s victory.
On Saturday, May 17th, 40+ cars conducted a Victory Car Rally displaying banners & placards, which started at Milpitas High School and ended at ICC.
The air was filled with slogans and chants of “Vande Mataram, “Har Har Modi – Ghar Ghar Modi”, “Baar Baar Modi Sarkar” and”Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas”. People also carried signs with slogans “Rise Of India With NaMo”, “MODIfied India”, “Congrats BJP” and “MODI and Idea of India” in support of Modi.
At both rallies, laddoos, pedas and many other kinds of sweets and Chai were distributed. At the end of Car Rally at ICC, Ashok (Manager of Swagat Restaurant) brought specially made Mithai for the participants.
Chandru Bhambhra, former president, Overseas Friends of BJP, said “In my 64 years, I have never seen a visionary person like Shri Modi.
His vision and his power to execute ideas are amazing. He has developed Gujarat in past 12 years and taken it to enviable heights and people have confidence and faith in him that he will now develop India with the same zeal and take it to a very respectable level.”
Gaurang Desai, Northern California coordinator of FISI who recently visited Gujarat said, “I have witnessed the development and forward thinking ideas like daily garbage collection by truck. If Modi can accomplish even 1/10th of what he has promised, he would have achieved more than what Congress has in 60 years.”
Khanderao Kand, founder-president, Global Indian Technology Professionals of India, says, “We technological professionals are very happy that a development-oriented leader like Modi got such a decisive mandate. He eradicated corrupt, dynastic, caste and appeasement-driven politics that was ruining India.”
Suresh Patel, a founding member of Gujarat Samaj, who has been responsible for Gujarat Day celebrations in Bay Area said, “This was a clean sweep. This is a tremendous victory for development of India. Such a mandate can only mean that people of India raised themselves against caste, religion and regionalism and voted for development.”
Yagnesh Pathak, a member of Sewa International said “He delivers whatever he promises.”
