NEW DELHI: Betting big on the government’s Swachh Bharat initiative, Jindal Stainless has forayed into the modular toilet manufacturing segment and is targeting Rs 200 crore business in the next 2-3 years.
The pre-fabricated toilet sets would be manufactured at its Gurgaon facility, which has an installed capacity of producing around 500 single toilets and 100 community toilets per month. The raw material for the product would be sourced from Jindal Stainless’ Hisar plant, said Anuj Jain, CEO, Jindal Architecture.
Jindal Architecture, a subsidiary of Jindal Stainless, would carry out the company’s plan of producing such toilets, which the firm claims can last for at least 25 years with minimal maintenance.
The NDA government has recently launched its ambitious cleanliness, “Swachh Bharat”, program and hoped to achieve the target by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
“The “Swachh Bharat” program of the government will give us a huge boost in our new initiative. We hope to achieve around Rs 200 crore revenue from this business in the next 2-3 years,” Jain said. The 100 per cent recyclable toilets are available in a range of single units and as community toilets of six and eight units, respectively. These toilets have the option of being upgraded to automated bio-toilets, the company said. -PTI
