It was a low-key wedding on the sets of R Balki’s upcoming rom-com, Ki and Ka. Kareena Kapoor, who plays an independent, corporate honcho, tied the knot with an MBA graduate, Arjun Kapoor, who opts to be a stay-at-home husband. Swaroop Sampat, Ki’s (Kareena) chic mother, blessed the newlyweds. Rajat Kapoor, who plays Ka’s (Arjun) disapproving dad in the film, was missing during the shoot.
The film derives its title from linguistic gender division in the Hindi language found in the words `ladki and ladka’ and its derivations –
iska iski… uska uski.
Writer-director-producer Balki had earlier told Mirror, “In Hindi, not just human beings but also nonliving objects have gender. Everybody and everything is categorized. But this film, like the couple’s marriage, underlines the fact that `Ki’ and `Ka’ as genders don’t matter. The film is all about breaking gender stereotypes.”
