PHAGWARA: Under the Central government’s scheme of Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase / Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP Scheme), the Social Security, Women and Children Welfare Department of Punjab held a social empowerment camp here on March 3 for providing artificial equipment, aids and appliances to disabled persons.
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Vijay Sampla presided over the camp.
Phagwara SDM Jai Inder Singh, CDPO Sushil Lata, Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Ranjit Singh Khurana, Councilor Om Parkash Bittu, and ex-block BJP President Pankaj Chawla were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Vijay Sampla said that artificial aids and equipment, including motorised tricycles, were given to those disabled beneficiaries whose measurements were taken in the previous camp.
Giving details of the ADIP Scheme, Sampla said it assisted the needy disabled persons in procuring durable, sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern, standard aids and appliances that can promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation by reducing the effects of disabilities and enhance their economic potential.
