PHAGWARA: In a stroke of luck, Madhu, a migrant farm labourer living in the Banga area, has won the ₹3-crore bumper prize in the Sikkim Government Ganesh Chaturthi Bumper Lottery.
Madhu, originally from West Bengal, had come to the Banga area in search of work and had been earning his livelihood as an agricultural labourer. His fortune changed dramatically when he purchased the winning lottery ticket from the Sahota Lottery Stall in Banga just about an hour before the draw results were announced.
Within an hour of buying the ticket, Madhu learnt that he had won the bumper prize of ₹3 crore. The unexpected windfall has brought immense excitement among his family members and acquaintances.
For Madhu, who had been earning his livelihood through farm labour, the lottery win has come as a life-changing stroke of fortune. His story has since become a talking point in the Banga area, with people describing the win as a remarkable turn of fate.
